Hello everyone

My name is Carl, I am Head Moderator for My Movies.
Moderators like myself are community volunteers. This has the benefit of us being passionate about what we do rather then you getting some paid lackey.
We give our free time to moderate, handling incorrect data reports, box set contributions and helping users.
We do this for many reasons, good will, kindness, a strong affinity for movies and TV…. OCD tendencies, lack of social lives… so on.

Traditionally when we look for new moderators we take the approach of singling out users who catch our eyes and approaching them discreetly however this time we are going to try something slightly different.
This time we are going to offer the chance for everyone to put themselves forward who feel they can bring something to the community.
First let me explain that we make no promises, myself and my team will go through applicants and decide based on several criteria we think is best for the web service and for the team. We may not be able to reply to everyone and those we do we might contact via PM in reply.
Factors such as account age, community involvement, contribution history, available time, conduct and warning history will be taken into account.

Some of the things we need in a moderator.

1. Skype with voice capacity. We need this so he or she can communicate and be actively involved in team discussions and voice chats and thus also have comfortable level of English language.
2. Attention to detail and a clear understanding of the guidelines
3. Ability to work as a team and following decisions made by the team, myself and developers.
4. The willingness and ability to actually do the task, we need people who have time to work on reports and so forth.
5. Must be able to moderate Via PC software.

Some of the things we would like in a moderator but manageable

1. Customer facing skills, if you happen to come from a customer facing role it would not hurt, some of us work in such roles in our own jobs, where as some of us are not perhaps natural to such things.
2. TV series lover. We would love someone who would be suited to handling TV Series reports which can be complex and sometimes involved, also an area where development for moderator tools is a persistent area we are working on.
3. Video Tutorial experience/interest. Someone to help spread the workload of creating video tutorials would help and increase production. Should you also have access to a Mac that would be useful.

Should you be interested in becoming a My Movies Moderator please reply to this thread, explain to us how you feel you can contribute and skill sets and interests that may best assist the community.
Should anyone have questions please ask but let’s keep this topic on target.

Sincerely

Carl

Howdy Carl,

I believe I might be capable of helping. While I've not been active on the forums (I just browse the forums from time-to-time), that can change.

1. I can Skype; although depending on where you are, there may be a significant time change, I'm UTC -05.
2. I'm detailed oriented & guidelines shouldn't be a problem.
3. Since I'm self-employed, I've worked with teams as little as 1 person :) and as big as 30.
4. Reports? I sometimes forget to put the cover sheet on the TPS reports...
5. I have both Mac & Windows operating systems (primarily use MyMovies on the Mac).

1. When I worked in retail, I was customer-facing. Now I own my own business (media & marketing: website design, TV commercial production, custom databases for small businesses & non-profits, photography, etc.), so I basically do that and much more.
2. I watch more TV than movies.
3. I have extensive experience doing this, since I allow a majority of my clients to edit their own website, thusly I create printable/web tutorials to get started and video tutorials for more in-depth tutorials.

Hello Carl,

Thanks for actually involving other collectors in improving the quality of the database. I have been a long time Collectorz Movie Collector user but recently migrated to My Movies Pro as I believe the accuracy, data and covers from this service is far superior.

I am avid collector of import blu-ray steelbooks so it is in my own interest to ensure accuracy and quality of data contributed by other users.

I am available to Skype within reasonable hours (prefer late in the evening or early afternoon). I have multiple Mac and Windows Systems so using a PC for the moderation piece is not an issue. I would need to purchase the Windows Version though as I primarily use the Mac.

I have extensive experience creating CBT's using Camtasia and Adobe Captivate in my past as a Global Architect for Windows Server Platform Engineering at a Fortune 500 company. I have moved on to a much senior position now and do not involve myself in such activities but the knowledge still applies.

I will be honest that I am not a big TV series collector, I do purchase most popular TV shows as long as they are on blu ray and either have a steelbook or special WEA packaging.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Best Regards,
Aniv

Boa noite

Sou usuário do Brasil e gostaria de saber da possibilidade de se adicionar grupo de moderadores para tratar dos títulos desse país, acredito que ficaria mais fácil gerir as coleções.
