Now that RedFox have ghosted their customers for the second time, is there a change MyMovies will integrate a replacement like MakeMKV so the ripping engine still works? Using my Nimbie changer to rip a stack of movies is the greatest feature. Without AnyDVD* that feature is lost. What do you think binnerup? Any chance of replacing AnyDVD* with something else? Thanks. * Installing and/or using AnyDVD is illegal in some countries. Users are themselves responsible for complying with local law when installing and using AnyDVD.

I understand. It is very unfortunate though. I've definitely gotten my money's worth from this software over the years, so thank you for that!

Apparently no one here uses mymovies anymore. Very unfortunate. For me the application at all. And I haven't switched to Zappity either. It's a shame that mymovies will soon be history. Then things will probably continue with R_volution. Very unfortunate.

Actually, around 100,000 users have used My Movies the past few months in total - but you are right, we have not had our focus on playback front-ends, media centers and server solutions for the past 5 years or more. Most of our users today is on our mobile apps, used for collection management. We have to follow our users and spend our resources on where we can earn back the costs, and this unfortunately is no longer the server solutions. So, My Movies absolutely won't be history, but indeed, we will not be spending resources on supporting alternatives to AnyDVD*. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Two weeks ago I bought a pile of movies and started to rip them with My Movies automatic disc copy, as I always do; but hadn't done in a while. First out was Dune 2 4K UHD. I got an error message from AnyDVD*, but ripping started so I let it finish. Next I inserted the Dune 2 BD, same error message. Then I ripped the rest of the BD's (no more UHD) without any errors. Most of them older, but some more recent like The Marvels and the latest Hunger Games. All ripped to BDMV. When I tried to watch the two versions of Dune 2 with med Dune HD player they both failed. The titles start and I can see the the disc menus, but now image or sound. All the other titles work to play as usual. So it seems like My Movies with AnyDVD* still can be used for older titles, but not newer. I read somewhere that MakeMKV with Handbrake still can be used for ripping UHD. I have it installed on a computer with only BD reader, so I will try it. If it's working I will install it also on my server with UHD reader. So, that might be a solution, but I will really miss the automatic disc copy function from My Movies. I wish the there was a legal way to buy and download movies with quality like BD and UHD, that not is locked to one system; like Kaleidescape. Perhaps it's time to give up buying and ripping discs. I have bought some titles on Itunes to play with Apple TV. Even if I can get 4K and Atmos for many titles it don't feel right to not have the bit rate that I can get from a disc. Then you never know how long they will be available... My home theatherMy movies* Installing and/or using AnyDVD is illegal in some countries. redfox anydvd* may still work for uhd but you have to setup a few things that were added to anydvd* before being taken down. You have to install the latest makemkv version and setup the findvuk online db. http://fvonline-db.bplaced.net/. you also have to go into anydvd* settings go to the uhd section and point your findvuk db to wherever you installed it. I use xreveal now for ripping discs. It is free unless you want the pro version which makes setup easier. https://www.xreveal.com/ The pro version is $20 for one year. Lifetime $40 * Installing and/or using AnyDVD is illegal in some countries. Users are themselves responsible for complying with local law when installing and using AnyDVD.

Thanks for your reply jkwaterman! I will definitely try this some day. I installed MakeMKV on my server and ripped UHD as well as BD of Dune 2, didn't need Handbrake. I watched the UHD rip Sunday night and it worked fine. As all my other movies are ripped to BDMV I would like to do the same for this title, so I will try above. My home theatherMy movies

We simply cannot earn back in the cost of doing so, unfortunately. So are you saying that you are not supporting the MyMovies desktop app anymore.... yet you are charging people $20 subscription to have full access to the that app? Something does not add up here? I believe OP was asking about ripping DVDs and not the actual playback.

No, we are saying that we are no longer focusing on front-ends and playback, which includes further development on disc copying. The majority of our users today are using our apps stickly for collection management, and not for ripping or playback. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? I just had to reinstall MyMovies after a bit of being down. After reading this about anydvd* and the lack of support for those that rip I am confused. When I go to settings, disc copy the note is -DVDFAB PassKey or AnyDVD* is not installed.- My confusion comes from both the lack of mention of Passkey and second is that I do have PassKey installed. Please let me know how I can make the software see my install of Passkey. Thanks * Installing and/or using AnyDVD is illegal in some countries.
