I still use WMC on multiple computers. Does this mean I should stay on version 5.40 and avoid 5.41? Or could I upgrade my server ONLY to 5.41 and leave my WMC computers on 5.40?

Thanks for the quick response. I still use WMC as my DVR for over-the-air TV using the Schedules Direct app for the guide, as well as my entire movie collection and TV collection, and it still works perfectly. I realize that Microsoft has ended support for WMC a long time ago, but I'll continue to use it as long as it's functioning. But I will start looking for alternatives. What do you recommend for something equivalent as an alternative? Thank you!

You can try cmc. https://chamconsoft.com/cmc/. It works with the mymovies webservice. There is no charge. You do have to purchase a certain number of mymovies points to use the webservice

If I recall correctly... CMC will only read the first 100 movies until you purchase the product. And then you have to have 2500 points with MyMovies in order to use the API...

I ended up ripping my disks into files and started using Plex as my new server... Plus it is free to use for personal in home use...

I'm still a fan of Windows Media Center. It even runs on Windows 11. Not just for movies but also photos and videos. Nice and easy everything together and completely in sync with my Windows folders. No alternative media center can compete with that. So yes, I'm disappointed that Windows MC is no longer part of release 5.41. What do you think?

There is no longer a requirement to buy a license for CMC. It is completely free except the mymovies requirement to have 2500 points to use the api.

While I may look into CMC or another solution, I have been using MM5.40 with Windows 11 and with WMC side loaded. I made the mistake of updating to 5.41 before I knew it would break WMC support. Compounded by the fact that I don't have a backup of 5.40 to roll back to. Is there any way to roll back to 5.40. I can install the software, but the DB has been converted and is not compatible.

Did the installer not inform you that Windows Media Center parts were not included? It is created to do so.

Once the database have been upgraded, you cannot down-grade it - on the download page it says to always create a database backup when upgrading - such backup would contain the prior database, and can be restored on 5.40.

Have the directory paths for the movie folders been deleted in 5.41?

VERY sad to hear this.
Guess I will keep and covet my 5.40 install file for the rest of my life.
I have not found anything that does the same job or better of WMC with this plugin. :(
Sad day indeed my friends....
