Step 1. Go to Tv series DVD Entry (Pic 1) step 2. Set Media type, i.e. TV series (pic 2) Step 3. Click on TV box that appears (with a x in it if no connection already made) and do a search for the applicable title and language for your release. and click ok (Pic 3) step 4. go to disks and click on edit chapters/episode Step 5. Tick the correct chapters relevant, i.e. the ones that are episode lengh and comparing against the structure on disk (i.e. episode order or run dvd through while you map) make the correct match for each title. (Pic 4) 6. Step 6 Select Season by using drop down box below Sea # (Pic 5) Step 7. Select Episode from EP# drop down box, keeping in mind in some cases dvd episode listing may be correctly different from the listed numbers compared to how was released on dvd, so just compensate for that if needed. i.e. firefly on tv the bastards made them show episode 3 i think first but when released to dvd they properly put the episodes how was intended by the series makers. (pic 6) Step 8. Once you have set the episodes up click ok, then ok again, then save title, then contribute the data and your done (Pic 7) take note of the new + box next to dvd and the tv sub fields present :D hope that makes sense, oh and if any of you think this guide sucks please feel free to say and i will disable your accounts for you File Attachment(s): pic 1.jpg (597kb) downloaded 1,412 time(s). pic 2.jpg (599kb) downloaded 0 time(s). pic 3.jpg (620kb) downloaded 666 time(s). pic4.jpg (566kb) downloaded 620 time(s). pic5.jpg (585kb) downloaded 493 time(s). pic6.jpg (593kb) downloaded 408 time(s). pic 7.jpg (586kb) downloaded 438 time(s).

Wow - this REALLY REALLY sucks! :-) Do I get my account shut off twice?
Seriously Carl, I went through and mapped several series last night and worked great. A couple of questions though:
1. Once we map these, we can contribute so these don't have to be done again, correct? 2. Mapping the episodes was pretty easy to figure out, however, I have two 36 DVD collections that aren't. They have the titles that are normal episode times, but then there's a gap of really small title times, then a couple that could be episodes. Even including these, it doesn't seem to balance out. Any suggestions on how to identify the correct titles on these DVDs without watching and going through 36 DVDs?
Thanks!

Watching the DVD with the title/chapter popup on is the only reliable way to do this. You can't assume the episodes are mastered in any particular order.

There really is no easy way to map the episodes to DVDs other then watching them and looking for the title/chapter pane up in WMP. I just finished mapping and uploading 15 series and some of them were huge. Some Series had the episodes all over the place, and some had doubles but when you looked at the menu it only mapped to odd numbered tracks on one set. I just finished mapping Robotech: Protoculture Collection and what was a total of 89 episodes including specials and pilots (aired and unaried). It's very tedious and prone to error, but the good thing is you only have to do it once. Just take your time... :-)

you must watch them, even i have been SHOCKED by how some dvds are structures. stargate for example, and futuramas, and so on. its all crazy on some discs
watch brians how to vid, far better then this thread.
and yes 1. you should upload your mapping for your future benefit and everyones.
2. you must do it while comparing to disc, trust me or you will get badly caught out. watch how to vid for exact demo.

Hi,
I am trying to map 'The Ren & Stimpy Show: The First and Second Season' My problem is that each 'episode' actually contains two episodes. Here's how the DVD structure is organized:
Title 2: Full Episode of 'Stimpy's Big Day' and 'The Big Shot' Chapter 1: Opening Credits Chapter 2: 'Stimpy's Big Day' Chapter 3: 'The Big Shot'
The problem is that when I click on the check-box to the left of any of the chapters, nothing happens! I can't properly map the episodes! Is there anything I can do about this?

You will need to un-check all Title check boxes and only use the Chapter check boxes to map the episodes.

I have mapped a few TV seasons and when I save the + appears next to the show and I can view all the episodes and update guest actors etc. So I am sure I know I am doing it right.
However, when I mapped a box set containing all seasons (Rising Damp) the + doesn't appear after saving. I checked that the media type was set as TV and that the correct show was added. I saved and contributed and all went through without any error messages, but I still can't seem to get the + next to the show. The box set consists of 1 season per disc plus a movie disc
I did make an error in the mapping, which I went back and corrected, re-submitted/saved etc, but still no +
Any ideas?
Thanks

UPDATE to above:
Looks like I need a bit of patience. It populated a few days later. Had a few others do it. I just delete them, then re-add them and it works

First off, forgive me if I sound dumb to all this. I have been working with My Movies 4.0 for about 2 weeks. So, please bear with me. I can easily map episodes in My Movies Collection Management. However, where I am having difficulty is getting Media Center to show the list of episodes that have been mapped. Media Center asks which disc I want to play, but never gives me the option to see the episodes. I watched the tutorial about episode mapping. I saw how it worked for Brian, but I can't get it to work for me. What am I doing wrong?
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. My computer is fully up to date with all updates from Windows and I am running Microsoft Security Essentials for my antivirus.

I have a number of TV shows on DVD and with some of them the webservice doesn't have any mapping information in it. I have been able to add the mapping, but when I try to contribute so that other people can also have it, I get an error that the title is locked. When a title is locked the only method I know for changes is to submit a report for incorrect data, but I'm not certain that this is correct in order to just add the episode mapping. Am I supposed to report the title data so that it can be unlocked and I can then use the 'Contribute Title Data' button?
Thanks.

yes, you need to report it, explain what you intend to contribute, and if the moderators agree they unlock it for you. Then, after you contribute the change, you should report it again so it can be re-locked.

From what I've understood, the TV-movies from the series "Agatha Christie's Miss Marple" featuring Joan Hickson as Miss Marple should be treated as TV series. The episode mapping and sort-name of this show presents some challenges though. Apparently only some of the TV-movies were broadcast in their entirety on one night. Others were chopped up in two or three parts and broadcast over the course of two or three days. As a result, for example the story 'At Bertram's Hotel' has multiple episode items in the TV-series database, but there is only one title on the DVD which has the whole story. Moreover the season and episode numbering in My Movies differs from the one on thetvdb.com. How do I correctly handle the episode mapping in these cases?

If there are multiple episodes per title, mark the FIRST chapter of each episode ONLY.
Note: Episodes will be able to start in the correct position, but playback will NOT stop automatically when it reaches the next episode. Studios that master discs like this should be shot...
