Hi all dune users.

I've adapted and created 3 new templates for the dune index export.

first, let's start by the "How to" :

1. dowload the .zip that you want. unzip it, it will contain a .xml as well as some .png files

2.
XP user need to go to
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization\Meta Data\Dune Templates"

Win7 user go to :
"C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization\Meta Data\Dune Templates"

3. in "..\Dune Templates", create a new folder with exact same name as the .xml file in the zip (for "Template 2.xml" create a "Template 2" folder, with same capital "T"). If you want to install the 3 templates, you will need to create 3 new folders.

4. copy/paste in this new folder everything you will find in the "..\Dune Templates\My Movies Default" folder

5. copy/paste in new folder the .png files corresponding and that you found in the .zip (.png in "Template 2.zip" in "Template 2" folder, say OK for overwriting files)

6 copy paste the .xml file in "..\Dune Templates" (next to "My Movies Default.xml")

7. go to CM/Options/metadata/dune config and voilà, you will find in the "template" the new templates you just installed along with the My Movie Default. Select the one you want and run a full update of your index to recreate the backdrops.

The templates :

"Template 2" : based on the MM Default, but this is a condensed version with bigger view of the backdrop and a dimmed overlay (I really hate the default one that takes too much place...) invisible on black backdrops, but usefull for reading on white backdrop. Changes apply for movies, template for episodes is MM default (but with the new overlay).
Pictures :

zip : http://www.mediafire.com/?tb4epj7pvzid02s

"Template 3" : adapted from "Glass" template for Yadis by user DonJuan2000 (you can say "thank you" to him on mpcclub : http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=224235&postcount=284 ). Black overlay, easy to read, large backdrop. I mixed both Glass and only kept the poster for cover (no DVD/HDDVD/BR cover). This time I also adapted it for episodes (also from DonJuan)

"Template 4" : also from DonJuan "Polar" work ("thank you" here : http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=223752&postcount=254 )
Very different from the normal one, very big description easy to read on smaller screen. Episodes adapted as well.

I hope you will enjoy it, and that there'are the first of a long list (mpcclub is full of very beautifull templates if you need some inspiration...).

If you find any bug (text too long that doesn't fit in a window for example), just post here and I will correct it. If you want to make changes, just remember that Template 3 and 4 are an original creation from DonJuan2000 on mpcc, it would be fair to ask him if you can change it (that's what I did, and it was not a problem).

small cosmetic changes on Template 4 : added a shadow to cover and fanart, looks better IMO, also changed title to display to "LocalTitle"

Adapted from Red Cinema C3 template by Cinemusic on mpcc (you can thank him here : ( http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=224420&postcount=323 ). Fits perfectly my full dune layout as i'm using the same backdrop for all my dune menus...

Thanks

May be you should also centralize all dune topics in a new subforum ? I see more and more people coming here looking for answers about MM and Dune...

Here's a new one (Template 6). This is the first template 100% done by myself.

Quite simple with limited data on the screen (only the most important IMO).

Very nice, Gugusse!

Appreciate you sharing these with us.

Which template do you like best?

Can you possibly convert tovaxxx's template for us MM users?

My friends are dying to get their hands on a Dune and I like sticking it to them with these fantastic templates!

Thanks in advance.

Also, I would like to get involved in creating templates. Are there any online guides for us newbies?

Appreciate it.

I Will have a look at tovaxxx template as well as the updated glass 2.0 from donjuan, but i have less available time to do it than in august and it won't be done very fast...

For a guide to do templates, I didn't find anything, I just learned by trying things in the XML and looking to other XML to understand how it works (even tried some syntaxes that miraculously worked while I had no idea about what I was really doing...). Best thing is to mess with the XML, don't be scared as this is only pure logic and very easy to understand, and also have a clear idea about what you want to do and you also need a minimum knowledge on photoshop or the gimp to create some nice overlays.

Thanks for the info, Gugusse.

I look forward to whatever you share with us, whenever you can do it....

I'll start tinkering with the XMLs as you suggested.

So far, I like the red movie theater template you created the best.

I would love to move the movie cover box (on the left) moved up, and spread the information (on the top) under the movie cover box.

How hard would that be?

Thanks again.

unfortunately the top grid made by cinemusic in his original template is already a part of the full overlay, so you can't move it at the bottom and that makes it impossible to change it as you want.

you will need to rework with PS or Gimp the original background that you can find here http://www.htbackdrops.com/v2/displayimage.php?album=8&pid=11107#top_display_media (as well as other very nice backgrounds if you want to create some templates from scratch).

If you're able to do this, moving everything up just a bit wouldn't be very complicated with the xml.

Now that I finally received my Dune Player (Smart B1) I agree on a subforum.

Brian...any chance on starting a subforum...if not for Dune Players specifically how about for External Players

As I said, I think we're more and more using a dune with MM, and a sub-forum would make sense IMO...

Other question to Brian : is there a possibility to add a "in 3D" icon in the templates, like the icons for file type or sound type ? there's no icon in the default template, but is there a way to add this info ? (I can create an icon if needed).

under popular demand (well, dawgneck demand in fact...), I reworked tovaxxx's Clear 2.0 tempate for MM. You can thank tovaxx here : http://www.mpcclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=225771&postcount=376

So this is Template 7

I made some little changes for the movie template, but I had to rework almost everything for the TV series because :
1. MM is not able (at least for now) to use the TV banners
2. the overlay used by tovaxxx makes it impossible to use with 99% of the fanarts 'cause it's only showing 50% of a 1080p picture... the remaining 1% should be the True Blood fanart he used in is preview. (unless there's a big trick in yadis that makes dynamic backdrops hide/unhide...but MM anyway is not able to do this)

pictures :

TV series

Files are there, and install is as usual : http://www.mediafire.com/?z1gflp9dj5qzq1z

;)

PS : this is an extremely light template...87ko onced zipped.

You are the man, Gugusse!!!

I really like your red movie theater template as well.

I will compare this to your custom template and report back.

Very nice.

Thanks again.

Hi all,

this is Template 8, inspired from various things I saw on the WD TV Live forums.

movies :

Episode :

file is here : http://www.mediafire.com/?bl9fd8jnl40o8rr

If you don't like the left/right icons and want to keep it as simple as possible, just open the .xml with notepad++ and remove lines 122 to 138 (movie) and 179 to 195 (episode)

Great work on the templates Gugusse! I am considering a dune player, most likely one of the smart series, to primarily use with My Movies. Are there any other screen shots around that give one a better idea of what the whole MM/Dune experience is like?

From the provided pictures, I am assuming that your templates only affect the movie info page correct? Sorry for the Noob questions, I am just trying to decide if I want to go down that route.

I also agree that there should be a Dune subforum.
