I see that but when you extract the zip file up TomX1, TomX2 TomX3, all the way to 8... Is there difference between each one?

changing the rows/columns is a bit complicated with MM...The easiest way is to use a little software called duneedit that will simulate the dune Ui on a PC and lets you play with the layout. But even using this, you won't be able to go further than a 6x3 wall. If you want to go beyond you will need to change many things in the xml.

deactivate the weather plugin in the dune settings. try also to use the "complete" layout in the dune settings (this is a known bug on dune players from the latest firmware atht is still not corrected...)

default backdrop is very easy to change. Go into the template's folder, find the backdrop picture (for the walls it should be CategoryBackground.jpg) and replace it with whatever you want as long as you name it exactly like the original one and that the new picture ratio is still 1920x1080.

UPDATE FOR MM5 !

This is an update for MM5 (works as well for MM4). I also repost everything because imageshack changed their business model and my pictures can't be seen anymore :(

So here are the 7 templates for dune users. You cans see everything in this imgur album : Dune template album

In order to make it easier for everybody, I created a full pack zip of all my templates. The file contains everything you need to use my templates without any cut/paste or anything else. This is the how-to :
1. first you need to check in the MM menu tools/settings/Media Center interface :
here check /detail views/cover style/ set to Plastic and /Movies Backdrop/set to 720p or 1080p (depends on your points)
2. go to C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization\Meta Data\Dune Templates. Unzip the My Movies Default.zip that you find here, then delete this zip file. If you don't delete it the template won't be used...
3. download the new templates below.
4. Just unzip the pack you just downloaded in C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\User Customization\Meta Data\Dune Templates (do "unzip here"), chose the template you want to use in the metadata/dune config window of MM, run a full update and that's it. Note : I use to delete the old index before doing a full update. It's not mandatory but I think it's better to start on a fresh index when changing template...

Bonus : those packs come in 2 flavors !

1. Complete templates 2 to 8 using MM default box art

2. Complete templates 2 to 8 using TomX box art. TomX beautiful box art will replace the MM default in all wall and menus. Depending on the template you will use, TomX box will also be applied to the box art in the movie backdrop (for example in template 2 or 5, but not in template 4 because it would look weird).

Thanks for the follow up in this thread. It is great that you guys are still working on customization on this.

We are currently working hard on the new interface we are working on, and hope that some of you guys have interests in giving feedbacks on this part when available.

Currently, we have sent it to some of our professionals, because the lack of API functions for end-users in MM5 means we need to add the stuff required for our own app to communicate, before we can send it out.

apparently nothing at least on the xml side... but after installing MM5 I needed to activate the plastic covers instead of "default" covers in the MM media center settings to correctly use the templates (or it was just using posters instead of covers), and it seems that upgrading to MM5 changed the info-3.ver and info-4.ver files in the default template engine which seems to break the template (can't update it keeps using the default one) so i needed to copy/paste those files from the new MM Default template into the old templates folders to make it work (+ delete the default.zip).

in fact I mostly did this update to have a correct post with pictures because the OP doesn't have it anymore :( (thanks imageshcack...)

unfortunately it seems that it's not going to work with our Smarts :(

(Don’t forget to make the folder read only)
Just season’s covers for series are the sames. ( it’s not the template)
