Hi, I think you really have to update all your pricing info. It is absolutely terrible, I don't understand it and more importantly I want to give you money, but don't know how! This: I am using V4 on iPad and you are urging users there to upgrade to 5.5 Pro for half price or take part in some subscription model, that should be 9€ or the pro version for 27€? (Not sure about the exact prices as I clicked away the info and don't know how to get it back). Shouldn't this info be reflected on your pricing page https://mymovies.dk/home/product-pricing.aspx? Where is the subscription model? Is the price shown in App store already 'half'? Instead there is a strange Tab 'Professional' on your page that obviously has nothing to do with the 'Pro' version you were talking about in the promo text. And what is this feature table / point system? There is nothing about this in app store. Is this still active, or just something from the past? Your product page for Windows talks about Windows 7. Do you really expect anyone to pay for an Windows 7 app today? Why not just give the info that it is a discontinued product? Or, if this indeed is still working in Win 11, then please tell this on the page! I would gladly give you my money - just give me precise info how and where!!!

(...) I would gladly give you my money - just give me precise info how and where!!! I thought the same - I've paid 7,99 € for the pro-version two years ago, and so I can't believe it's 17,99 € now - is 17,99 € the full price, which (hopefully) will be reduced in the case of an update, or do you really made the app so much more expensive? I'd like to see clear and simple pricing information, and I'd like to know more about Hinnerup Consulting (whether it's a one-man-show or a bigger company, for example ...) - this this strange secretiveness makes me a little bit suspicious, to be honest!

Admitted, if you found the product pricing page that you link to, I can understand the confusing part - this page, and points in general only applies to the Windows version. We will get that mentioned on the page. The My Movies 5 Pro upgrade is 17.99, which will double after December 31'st. The price of the Pro version has increased, and the recommended offer today is the subscription option. There are different reasons for the price increase - first of all, we have an increasing amount of users who choose to not upgrade, but stay on the versions they have for many years - our costs on development, service, hosting, ect. ect. is on-going, and therefore the price of the purchase version has to reflect that. The subscription option is today the cost wise most attractive. Part of the price change is also changes in currency conversions between the USD and the Euro - we follow Apples price tiers also on Android, to have the same prices on both platforms, and the price their here has a higher rate for Euros vs. USD. That is a big price increase; the My Movies 5 Pro upgrade will cost € 35,98 after December 31'st. I hope people are willing to pay such a high price! I am using My Movies for many years already. I started in 2015 with the Pro 2 version for € 3.99. In 2020 I bought the Pro 3 version for € 5.49 and in 2022 I bought the Pro 3 version for € 7.99. So € 17.99 is a very big price increase!
I just received an e-mail from binnenrup that says that the one-time buy for version 5 for Android costs $14,99, €14,99 of £14,99. In you mail above and on the Play store the proce is € 17.99. Very Stange!
But because I use My Movies almost daily to log what movies and series I have seen and I want to support the development and maintenance of the app I decided to go for the € 9.99/per year fee. I hope to use the app for many more years.
Kind regards, Jan

In you mail above and on the Play store the proce is € 17.99. Very Stange! Can you forward this email to us? Depending on country and locale we are replacing prices with the correct local pricing - it seems this is not working for the country you are in. The price when the strings were translated were €14.99, but the price tier in the App Store which we follow have changed to 17.99 since on the tier 15.' There have been a price increase over the years of the Pro version - we find that many users choose not to upgrade over many years, and we continue to have the service costs - to have a service to provide still, we have no choice but to increase the price of the purchase version to take into consideration that we for a large percentage would have many years of costs on this. This means that the subscription option cost wise is the most attractive. Having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5? Click here for troubleshooting.Having a problem? Oh well, I hoped, 17.99 would be the price to be reduced - instead it will double, that's really far too expensive. I won't subscribe to a software, I never do; the new version is too expensive, so I have to use V4 until it defuncts and search for another solution in the meantime. I'm sorry for this, but that's market economy too ...

Well, thanks for trying to answer my questions. I am sorry to report that you failed. Thanks for the info that your pricing page is irrelevant for iPad users. That the link is directly available in your home page under Product Pricing is strange. As it is only meaningful to Windows users, it should only be linked from the Windows page. Don't you think customers want to know exactly what they get, before buying or subscribing your app? This is not possible with the info you provide. 1) Differences between Pro and normal version are unclear. It took me ages and reading all the lengthy descriptive text in app store to realize that Pro is a directly payed version and non-Pro is a subscription app. 2) Even if you found out that non-Pro is subscription based. Where in hell is the subscription rate? Not on app store, not anywhere. I expect a lot of customers buying the fully payed version without even realizing there is a subscription model. 3) Your page for My Movies iPad/iPhone https://mymovies.dk/products/iphone-ipad.aspx is a mess. Info about 'free' version and subscription option is somewhere in the middle of a wall of text in a subnote It's really sad, because I love your product. But as a customer I expect clear info of all the product options and how to buy. I don't think this is asking too much. Is it so difficult to just provide a simple comparison chart which describes the different versions? Free and Pro? With differences and info where to pay, how to subscribe, and the exact fees?

With differences and info where to pay, how to subscribe, and the exact fees? It is not that simple - the versions are EXACTLY the same, there are NO differences except for the purchase model. The pricing on the Pro version is directly available in the store - the pricing of the subscriptions is in the app where you create the subscription. We cannot just list pricing on the website, because there are different prices for 150+ countries in the store - these frequently changes due to currency conversions. Excuse me, but that is not good enough. So I have to 1) find out that there is a subscription model. 2) download the 'free' app, although I already have an older pro app, just to see how much the subscription is?
And even if pricing info is difficult to provide, why don't you at least give that info in a clear manner? Also, how do other companies do it? I recall many instances, where I saw one or to currencies listed, say USD and €. That covers a very large area of the world and everybody would understand that currency differences might apply. But it would give the info I need to decide on version to try or buy.
And you send out emails with exact pricings, right? Strange that you can do it in email campains, but not on your website.

I think you are moving in the wrong direction. You say:
"There are different reasons for the price increase - first of all, we have an increasing amount of users who choose to not upgrade"
but by raising the price to this astronomical height, you will further reduce the amount of users who choose not to upgrade BY A LOT.
You do know what other software you get for 35€? Please have a look around, for example in the video game stores for PS, XBox, Switch... You get a lot of multi-million dollar projects for less than 35€. This is what people will compare you against if you go into full price software.
I bought every single Android MyMovies Pro-Version so far. I will not buy the latest upgrade for this price. I think a price of 10€ would be fair, again comparing against other software. For 10€ halved, upgrading would be a no-brainer move. 35€ seems ridiculous.
But then, I guess you don't really want people to upgrade to the Pro-Version, you would vastly prefer them subscribing. This is fair, but people will start looking for alternatives if you treat them like this.

It is naturally up to you - you are not asked to upgrade at €35 - you are asked to subscribe at €9.99 per year, or €17.99 as an app purchase - if you do not feel that the app is worth €9 a year, which is what you pay if you upgrade every second year, then we unfortunately are unable to provide a service to you. ogrim1 wrote:But then, I guess you don't really want people to upgrade to the Pro-Version, you would vastly prefer them subscribing. It is not a secret that the Pro version option is maintained to continue to give existing users this option - it is a better situation for our options to continue to provide a service that users choose subscriptions. Users who do not want the subscription option, and upgrade to the new Pro version every second year is affected by a lot of users who choose not to upgrade. We would rather provide a service to those who accept a €9.99 (or €8 on the Pro version) cost per year, rather than not having a service to provide to anyone - that would be the alternative. If you do not find the software to be worth the price, you are much welcomed to find alternatives - there are alternatives available, but they do not provide the services we do. Not quite there yet: some inconsistencies remain on your web pages... Starting from: https://www.mymovies.dk/home.aspxand then clicking on 'Product Pricing' in the left pane brings you to the updated info for the Windows version: https://www.mymovies.dk/home/product-pricing.aspxHowever, clicking on the 'Products' button on the top first, brings you to: https://www.mymovies.dk/products.aspxand then clicking on the left pane 'Product Pricing' brings you to the old Windows page at: https://www.mymovies.dk/products/product-pricing.aspxSo there is a discrepancy there. Also I would expect this latter page to give an overview of pricing on all products, which it does not. I only get pricing for e.g. the Android app if I click in the left pane on the 'Android' link. In summary, you might want to recheck all your pricing pages and make sure they are consistent. I do have an additional question on the Cross-platform subscription offer which is currently reduced to €22,99 It is described as: "a cross-platform premium subscription option, paid for yearly, which covers all the platforms we support, which currently is Android, iPhone/iPad, Windows, Mac OS X and Web" -> at the moment I am a user of both the Android 4 Pro and the Windows Collection Management programs. For the Windows Collection Management version I use the option of creating contribution points by regularly contributing to ensure I have the full functionality. Do I now need to switch to this cross-platform subscription in order to be able to keep using the Windows program, or can I continue as I do now (i.e. pay for the Android 5 app, and contribute for Windows platform)?

You are right, there is another page in the sub-page - we will change that also. The question on the cross-platform option depends on what you use - many features on the Windows app is free, and if you can do with just the free features, which you likely already are, you can likely do without the cross-platform subscription. What it does is unlocks all features on the Windows app also. It is likely that the Windows app will change in the future to also be subscription based. I thought by gathered above 2500 contribution points (which I have) the Windows app was already unlocking all features. Now you seem to suggest there are even more features available when paying for it, so can you point out what extras I would get ? I use the Windows app a lot so I might be interested to upgrade.
